Resumo
This paper presents a shearography system based on an adapted high-resolution commercial digital still camera. A customized optical accessory is attached to the front of the camera's objective lens with two purposes: to produce a pair of laterally displaced images and to form carrier fringes on the image sensor. In this way, the digital camera is converted into a shearography system without any other modifications being necessary. An algorithm processes the carrier fringes in the Fourier plane, obtaining phase values for each pixel. High-quality interference fringes are obtained from the phase difference between a pair of acquired surface images, one for each loading level applied to the measured part. The developed system is relatively inexpensive and opens up a series of possibilities for applications of shearography in scientific research and engineering.
